Música: Valdr Galga (Thyrfing)

Valdr Galga

by Thyrfing

It has been out of stock for quit some time now, even though it is considered a classic album within the Viking/Pagan Metal genre. So we decided to re-release this classic album full of mighty Pagan Hymns! This release differs from the original, because we added all lyrics and we re-mastered the sound. For all of those who do not have this album a nice opportunity to buy the follow-up album of Thyrfing and to enjoy songs such as ‘Firever’, ‘From Wilderness Came Death’ or the classic ‘Storms of Asgaard’. The album contains ten bombastic yet catchy Viking metal tunes that are filled with nice keyboard melodies, berserker vocals and pounding guitar riffs. With this album Thyrfing broke through and this resulted in playing Dynamo Open Air in front of 10.000+ maniacs!

All in all a highly influential band’s 2nd album, one of the first after Sabbat/Skyclad introduced the world with their Pagan influenced Thrash Metal and their Irish friends Cruachan did the same in Black Metal... The Finntrol people always said they even started the band to sound like Thyrfing...

Recorded at Studio Sunlight (a.o. Entombed, Dismember, Necrophobic, Grave...) by Tom as Skogsberg and graced with the beautiful art of Kris Verwimp (a.o. Absu, Glittertind, Moonsorrow, Desaster).

Teatro: Gerpla (Islandia)

Director: Baltasar Kormákur, Set design: Gretar Reynisson, Costumes: Helga I. Stefánsdóttir, Light design: Lárus Björnsson, Soundscape: Sigurður Bjóla.

Warrior Queen
Lyrics by Kellianna
Music by Kellianna & Donna Horn

I cannot remeber my name
As I lay on the battlefield
and hear the war drums
I died here with honor today
Warrior Queen with my sword by my side

I can't remember the names of these men
As they cover my body with furs
Now I am floating up over the land
Leaving my body below

Now they will carry me home
Through the mountains and groves
to the land of my birth
They will make me a funeral pyre
where my bones turn to dust
and my flesh turns to fire.

Then to Valhalla I'll go
To gaze on the face
of my King and my sons
There will be a feast laid for me
Warrior Queen with a Valkyrie shield

I watch them carry me over the lands
On through the fields and the farms
People are waiting to watch me pass by
Look now our Queens is coming home

Now they will carry me home
Through the mountains and groves
to the land of my birth
they will make me a funeral pyre
where my bones turn to dust
and my flesh turns to fire

A very long journey I've come
to the lakes and the streams
and the lands that I love
Where as a child I roamed
Warrior Queen at fourteen years old

I watched them carry me over the lands
On through the fields and the farms
People were waiting to watch me pass by
Look now our Queen has come home

Now they have carried me home
Through the mountains and groves
to the land of my birth
Set flame to my funeral pyre
And my bones are now dust
and my flesh gone to fire

Leif Eriksson Day

Proclamation by President Bush
on Leif Erikson Day:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim October 9, 2008, as Leif Erikson Day. I call upon all Americans to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs to honor our rich Nordic-American heritage.

Odin. Un cuento de Borges / A tale by Borges

Thysane / Deviantart

Odín

Jorge Luis Borges y Delia Ingenieros

(english below)

English traslation

In the court of Olaf Tryggvason, that had been converted to the new faith, an old man arrived one night, enveloped in a dark cape, with the brim of his hat covering his eyes.  The king asked him if he knew how to do anything, the stranger replied that he knew how to play the harp and tell stories.  He played old airs on the harp, he spoke of Gudrun and of Dunnar and, finally, he referred to the birth of Odin.  He said that three norns came, that the first two promised him much happiness and that the third said, furiously:
“The boy will not live longer than the candle which is burning by his side”
Then, the parents put out the candle so that Odin would not die. Olaf Tryggvason refused to believe the story but the stranger repeated that it was true.  He took out a candle and lit it.  While they watched it burn, the man said that it was late and that he had to go.  When the candle had been consumed, they began to look for him.  A few steps from the house of the king, Odin had died.

Largs Viking Festival
